Many people are confused and
frustrated in this present age, especially in Nigeria because they collect
peanuts to vote for their candidate and after voting, there are multiple taxes
to pay, fraudulent bank charges that awaits them, death trap roads, countless
youths without employment, etc., all because of bad, selfish and wicked leaders
we vote in to govern us.
Too Many Churches, yet……
Over the years, the masses have
seen The Church as a place of refuge, a place of worship where they will go to
worship God, pour out their frustrations and receive peace of mind and joy in
return. There, churches started booming in Nigeria, to the point that church building
has been erected at every nook and cranny. With all these churches, instead of
lives being transformed, instead of wickedness, selfishness, hate, idolatry,
adultery, bitterness, jealousy, armed robbery, kidnapping, prostitution, child
trafficking, etc. to decrease, they have continued to increase, and are even
becoming societal norms. Have we even thought of why this is so? Let’s find out
together.
Prophecy for Sale!
Most men of God have twisted
the word of God and are still twisting it to suit their selfish desires. Some mix
up truth with falsehood to avert suspicions while others have deviated completely
after gradually brainwashing their members until they can no longer differentiate
between truth and falsehood. In my bible, prophecies from men of God brings
relief, hope, emotional and psychological healing, and peace; even when the
prophecy hurts, but today, prophecies from many ‘men of God’ causes enmity, chaos, self pity,
bondage and frustration. Instead of earning the respect and admiration
of the congregation by total devotion to God and His ways, most men of God have
resorted to emotionally blackmailing the congregation, threatening them
spiritually and bullying them psychologically to extort from them. Prayers and
Prophecy are now for sale; members have to pay to get them.
Rev. Fr, Mbaka’s 2018 Harvest and Bazar
Rev Fr. Mbaka’s political
statement during his harvest and bazaar is a good example. He said: “The way he
is going, if he (Atiku) continues like this, he has already failed because 31st
night is still far for prophecy. Oburo ukwua
ka nama ga eji eje Umuahia – meaning this is not the kind of moves that
will take a cow to Umuahia”. The reason for the statement being that Atiku has
not given anything, and Peter Obi, who was present during the harvest made what
he called political promise, because he did not pronounce what he will
give. This whole drama states one fact –
Prophecy to pronounce the next Nigerian President is for sale and will go to
the highest bidder before January 31st. God have mercy! Men of God
should please count Holy Spirit out of this fortune telling madness they call
prophesy.
Matters Arising
Nigeria is in a very bad shape
and seriously needs a good leader. Nigerian Church ought to be the conscience
of the people of this nation – a place where people go to hear the hard truth
that will set them free from their wicked ways and not the other way round. Men
of God who are close to Nigerian leaders should tell them that Nigerians
deserve to have taps that flows with neat water in their homes to prevent water
borne diseases, good roads to reduce accident, industries to reduce
unemployment and crime, etc., and also talk them into giving Nigerians what
they deserve. Extorting money from
politicians and leaders, especially during election season for church projects
will not in any way help solve the problems of Nigerians. It is rather, another
way of telling politicians to ‘settle us (with peanuts) then you can go ahead
to continue stealing public funds as usual - If the church continues like this, who will
bail the cat?
The Big Picture
Church doesn’t need to
shamefully beg for money, they only need to
work on the welfare of their members by telling politicians and leaders what
they should do for the masses who are the members of the churches, and by
teaching and helping their members to be financially established. So many people are
hungry because of the state of the nation, and so many of them pretend to be
living fine when they are not. By the time people have good jobs and salary to
live by, the time they will pay water and electricity bills, etc.; and enjoy
those without having to pay extra for drinking water and generator, etc, the
time when their needs will match their income, When they will earn higher than
they need to spend, then, their pastor doesn't have to emotionally blackmail them to give for church projects; they will give willingly - Only good governance
can bring those to pass and the church has a big role to play.

An interesting piece...the church and the people are the problem. Fela in one of his songs said we are suffering and smiling and which is the fact, when will we say enough is enough. How can less than one percent of the population holds over two hundred million people to ransom, yes, the people in power, the politicians are less than one percent.
ReplyDeleteThe ball is in our court, if we want change we can have it, our vote is our power and not the peanuts the politicians give us during campaigns.
Am surprised you only cited Mbaka as your case studying, the church as a whole has missed it, the likes of Bishop Chukwuma makes noise when he is not benefitting financially but when he receives bank alert from the politicians he will be singing praises for them.
Fr. Mbaka is just an example. The content of the write up points to men of God generally and the church.
ReplyDeleteNice Comment though.
