2019 Elections: Peter Obi emerge Atiku’s Running Mate

Ideal Olive gathered at punchng.com of October 13 2018 that a former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi was chosen as the running mate to Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate for the 2019 election, on Friday in Abuja.

The choice of Peter came after due considerations and series of consultations by stakeholders in the party and outside it. PDP had earlier considered five persons before Peter Obi was said to have been finally picked. Visit http://idealolive.blogspot.com/2018/10/atiku-woes-ekweremadu-soludo-adesina.html for the five persons on Atiku’s consideration list.

According to punch.ng, investigation by one of their correspondents showed that Atiku and the leadership of the party discussed the issue at a closed-door meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Thursday.

Peter Obi’s nomination has been confirmed by a statement issued by the Director-General of the Atiku Presidential Campaign Organization, Chief Gbenga Daniel, in Abuja on Friday night.

Here is a part of that statement: “The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has chosen a former Chairman of Fidelity Bank PLC and former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, as his running mate for the 2019 presidential election.

Apart from his vast knowledge of global and local economics, as well as being a financial expert, the choice of Peter Obi was largely influenced by his youthfulness.

It is hoped that with Peter Obi as a running mate to Atiku, PDP stands a better chance of winning the presidential elections if it turns out to be free and fair.
