This My Addiction

I used to be an addict who discovered a way to deal with addiction. Please it’s not what you think; there is no ‘drug’ in my own ‘addict’. Addiction is addiction but some are dangerous and deadly. Some time ago, I was addicted to eating Calabash Chalk or Nzu in Igbo. Some call it Bentonite Clay. As at then I can lick as many as I could get before it is dawn. At the village then, if I pass through a mud house with some splash of water, I will be drawn close by the Nzu like aroma coming from it, to cut out some bits of red clay and eat. There were also times that I found it difficult to stay without chewing gum or licking powdered milk, but gradually I overcame them.

The most recent addiction that I had to deal with was the habit of watching Philipine/Mexican movies and Nollywood movies. As each day passed, I found out that a lot of personal resolves were left undone. One thing led to another and EEDC disconnected our light. Maybe God wants to help me deal with that addiction, I thought. After a while, the light issue was resolved but I decided not to recharge my decoder at the moment. After about three months, I recharged my decoder but discovered that I no longer sit tight to watch but watch those movies when necessary. Since then, I have been more productive. Hallelujah somebody!

Some are football addicts. They can leave their commitments just to watch football. Some can even hurt themselves or kill unconsciously if their team looses. To many others, it is phone addiction. Most people have failed in their responsibilities because they hold tight to their phones and will not stop surfing the net for irrelevant information and activities. Some accidents that occurred have been attributed to careless use of mobile phones on the road and while driving. People are addicted to one thing or the other because they failed to control such when it is just a habit. Addiction occurs when we fail to control most habits that are not normal.

Drug addiction is the worst because the victims do not have control over what they are doing. An onlinesource defined Drug addiction as a compulsive and chronic disorder of the mind that leads an individual to habitually use a substance in an effort to achieve a desired outcome from it. Some people become drug addicts because they could not resist the temptation to experiment such hard drugs or substances, to some others, unfriendly environment drove them into drug addiction while some are as a result of peer influence.

We are human beings with self control. In one way or the other we can figure out how to control those abnormal habits we have noticed, before they become addiction and lead to regrets; it will make us more responsible. Drug addicts need our help because they can no longer help themselves. Let us encourage those who are in the mission of restoring drug addicts. Encouragement, acts of love and kindness can stop that neighbor of yours from becoming a drug addict; please do not fail to give those. Most extremist who destroy lives and property do so under the influence of hard drugs and substances. We can do what we can.

Taradiddles of Nigerian Leaders

The controversies over Ms Kemi Adeosun’s forged NYSC certificate since the past three months have no doubt brought the taradidles of Nigerian leadership to broad day light. It is exactly how TheCable online described it:  “Nakedness of what we call Nigeria”.

The fact that Ms Kemi Adeosun, former Minister for Finance has been parading a forged NYSC certificate is no longer news. There is no explanation to the fact that a person like Ms Kemi Adeosun obtained NYSC certificate and has been using same without the knowledge that it was faked. It is unfortunate that when Nigerian leaders tell their cock and bull story, they imagine Nigerians as morons that has no reasoning faculty. At least if they must lie about important and serious matters, they should accord Nigerians some respect; taradiddles are for children and not for adults.

The story line is that Ms Adeosun  never worked in NYSC, visited the premises, been neither privy to nor familiar with their operations, and had no reason to suspect that the certificate was anything but genuine. According to Kemi, she presented the certificate at the 2011 Ogun State House of Assembly and in 2015 for Directorate of State Services Clearance, as well as to the National Assembly for screening. It is impossible that none of these bodies detected the forgery.

According to Premium Times, Some federal lawmakers revealed that the forgery was detected by the Senate during the minister’s confirmation hearing. But rather than probe the issue, they turned it into a tool to blackmail Ms Adeosun. Our law makers became blackmailers while our dear former minister fell for their blackmail, just to cover up her fake certificate – parody of a nation. This only shows that in National Assembly routine screening, integrity and merit are meaningless.

It is good that justice has been served, as Court has given an order compelling Ms Adeosun to refund to the Federal Government of Nigeria all the salaries, emoluments, allowances and such other benefits she has enjoyed since her resumption as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2015 up to the point of the filing of the instant suit”. This justice should also extend to all the parties to the certificate forgery and certification; those mistaken “genuine associates” who are party to the issuing of the fake certificate should be found and punished accordingly, Directorate of State Services and National Assembly should also be questioned and punished accordingly - If there are no mistaken “genuine associates”, that means Ms Adeosun planned the forgery along with certificate forgery experts; Whichever the case, let justice be done. Let all those behind this crime be named and handled according to the law.

We are certain that why the right thing is been done now is because the truth was revealed after all, and some people must protect their so called integrity by doing the right thing. Before this certificate forgery came to limelight, so many who knew about it must have kept quiet to protect the rotten system, but now, they have to save their heads by doing the right thing. The corrupt practice of Ms Adeosun has been revealed, there are yet other leaders, including our so called lawmakers with worse cases, hiding and covering their illegality up among themselves. “Men of integrity” they shall remain until the light shines upon darkness and reveal their nakedness. One by one, their brooms will sweep them into their gutters and dustbins, and sun and rain will scorch hard and pour heavily on them through the holes they have personally formed on their umbrellas.

2019 Elections: Who are your Suitors?

When it comes to marriage, women have their expectations. Any woman that is ready to say yes to any kind of man is either desperate or lack self definition. Nobody is perfect but there are certain qualities that a woman will see, that are personal to her, and she will tell herself: yes this man is good for me. Why? It is because her life depends on that choice.

As Nigerians, what are our expectations? What are those developmental and growth needs that we have been denied of? Who among those that are wooing us has the qualities to meet our expectations and needs? These are some of the questions we need to ask ourselves and answer before we say yes to any candidate.

2019 elections are fast approaching and candidates are wooing us to accept and vote for them. They will come with gifts of money, food items, promises, etc., which are not good yardsticks for measuring their credibility. Are we again going to sway towards them like hungry chickens just to eat our cake today and go hungry in the next four or more years?

What shall it profit us to gain the whole world (which of course they can’t give us), and lose our souls? Yes, our souls; because when there is unemployment, some youths go into kidnapping, prostitution, drug addiction, etc. When there is bad governance, the masses loose the most and die the most.

This is the time to scrutinize those that are wooing us to accept and vote for them come 2019 elections. Let the following selected quotes on leadership guide us to chose and vote wisely.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, concerned citizens can change world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has. —Margaret Mead

The most dangerous leadership myth is that leaders are born-that there is a genetic factor to leadership. That's nonsense; in fact, the opposite is true. Leaders are made rather than born. —Warren Bennis

To command is to serve, nothing more and nothing less. —Andre Malraux

He who has never learned to obey cannot be a good commander. —Aristotle

A leader takes people where they want to go. A great leader takes people where they don't necessarily want to go, but ought to be. —Rosalynn Carter

Is it really Men's World?

Why do we create customs that destroy us? Which custom said that women alone should be given more attention so that men can marry them? And which law forbids men from getting more of home training because they are men? Please permit me to ask more.

Do male children not deserve to get more of home training to make them more responsible? Why do parents, especially mothers pay more attention to their female children when it comes to home training and character formation, neglecting their male children? As we train the female children to behave well, just for them to qualify for marriage, is it not also proper to pay even more attention to the male children that will marry the trained female ones, in order to balance the equation? Have we not confused our priorities?

The neglect of male children has caused so much harm in the society today; there are many beasts today instead of men. Majority of our leaders who have done much harm to the society are men, prisons are filled up with young and older men; women prisoners are few, there are many men today who are old enough to shoulder responsibilities, yet they are still mummy’s boy, some are even transforming themselves to women (transgender), we can go on and on. Women are taking to violence because they have learnt from men. I wonder what our society will turn out to be if things continue this way, because it will grow to worse.

I was inspired to talk about this after reading a tweet shared by Thembi Maphanga who has firsthand experience on how destructive and abusive man could be @thembeyakhe. It was reported at naij.com and it read: "I am not a rehabilitation center for a badly raised man; it is not my job to fix him, change him, parent him or raise him! I want a partner not a project! I deserve respect and love. I am not an object that can be owned, possessed or controlled. I value me.

Younger parents, especially mothers should please start correcting the mistakes of the older parents before things get out of hand. For us to enjoy safety, peace of mind, good governance, better homes, etc; male children should be given adequate home training and discipline, they should be taught to be responsible from their infant age, they deserve to be humans; they deserve to live a crime free life. Some say it is men’s world; some say it is women’s world, but Ideal Olive says it is our world and we have to make it better for all of us.

Help! The Young and Talented Needs Help

Over the years, nations and countries have organized contests, and celebrated their beautiful and handsome young women and men based on their physical appearance and ability to answer challenging questions. However, presently, that culture is being abused, as we now hear of people organizing Miss hot legs, Miss Bom Bom, and all sorts of crazy contests; and funny enough they have patrons and sponsors, those who should invest in better things. The world is changing rapidly and it is good to know that at least some people are really digging deep to discover new things.

On August 10, 2018, InformationNigeria reported that five students of Regina Pacis College, Onitsha, Anambra State grouped as Team Save A Soul won gold at Technovation Challenge 2018 held in Silicon Valley, California. The report had it that The Technovation Challenge tasks girls aged 10-18, working in teams of 1-5 with creating a mobile app that addresses a problem in their own community.

The Nigeria girls from Regina Pacis College, Onitsha who have now become Africa’s Golden Girls developed FD-Detector (Fake Drug Detector) to help consumers identify and avoid the intake of fake drugs in Nigeria. The girls plan to partner with the agency responsible for drug regulation in Nigeria, the National Agency for Food & Drug Administration and Control.

Another team from India identified as Team Cantavits also won by developing an application named Eedo; which will help to track and dispose of electronic waste in an eco-friendly manner. The application provides an end-to-end connection between e-waste producers and authorized recyclers.

Ideal Olive commends Tara Chklovski, CEO & Founder of Iridescent for organizing the Technovation Challenge 2018 and World Pitch Summit. A competition of such was proposed by an agency sometime in 2015, for talented teenagers to register and come with their products for a competition in Ebonyi state, after which the winners will go home duly rewarded; but I guess it didn’t take place after all, for lack of sponsorship. Competitions like this deserve to be patronized and sponsored. Such competitions will task the young people to engage their minds to creative and innovative ventures. Sponsorship of irrelevant contests like Miss Bom Bom, Miss Hot Legs and other contests of like manner, that has no productive value will only drive Nigeria deeper into mental, material and financial poverty.

Politics of Religion

Violence, killing, inhuman activities, etc are gradually becoming the culture of the world, yet, Christians, who are mainly at the receiving end do not understand what is happening. We pray and stare at the heavens, lacking courage to act, while evil thrive. Evil now reign over good, because evil men and women are making their moves, the best they know how. They are the majority in the helm of affairs, of most national and international institutions, and when inhuman activities take place, they either keep quiet or use their language of confusion to distract the clueless good people; after all, they are in the majority and majority carries the vote. They stylishly play their politics of religion and increase in their number while they make others, mostly Christians to believe that religion should not be brought into politics or governance - practice of secularism.

Christians are clueless, careless, nonchalant and ignorant of so many important things. Majority of us do not seem to read and understand the times to know what to do. We always pray and wait on God to fight for us when actually He kept us here to do the fighting. The beasts in human form seem to be the ones obeying the command of God, which is for His children to occupy, dominate, subdue and replenish the earth. They increase in number to suppress and silence the good. God understands the weapon of the majority, that is why He commanded us to replenish the earth, but as it stands, the beasts in human form have keyed into it-their own way.

Many Christians refer to late Archbishop Idahosa who once battled with witches and wizards when they want to converge in Benin City for their international conference. It was told that late Archbishop Idahosa went on air and announced that the witches conference will not hold in Benin Nigeria, that was after the witches have made their announcement. When the witches threatened that God Himself cannot stop them, Archbishop Idahosa told them that God doesn’t need to come down to stop them when he is there for that purpose. Has practical Christianity gone with the likes of late Archbishop Idahosa? If he had locked himself indoors, doing only praying and fasting, what would have happened?

Christians have programmed their mentality like: ‘God will fight for us and we will hold our peace’, unable to differentiate between “God’s fight” and “our fight”. We have suddenly lost our courage and are gradually losing our voice in the national and world events, even when someone who understands rises among us to speak up and act, some of us will be among the first to attack such a person; probably to gain or maintain social status, that we eventually loose in the process. This act of cowardice has over the years robbed us of our pride and rights as Christians; the pride and right that the saints before us gave up their lives to preserve.

President Trump is one man that I admire so much, even though I don’t know him in person. Like every other public figure, I have come to know his personality from the news about him, his activities, speeches, words, political meddlings, etc. CNN and Democrats may project him as a racist and as a rude president, which from all indication, is a fact, but is that really the much they see in him?

When I watch President Trump in action, I see a courageous Christian President bold enough to defend his faith amidst all odds; the same way non Christians in positions of power do with their faith. While most leaders of other faith use their position of authority to suppress good and oppose Christianity, President Trump saw his presidential office as a position of responsibility. He does his job and defends his faith without destroying or seeking to destroy any one. His racist and rude nature is for defense – only haters of his personality might be consumed by that.

President Trump is a president and person that should be encouraged. I am happy someone thought of bringing out the qualities in President Trump that so many people pretend not to see. Here are some facts about President Trump noted by an undisclosed pastor.

Written by an African pastor:
---------------------------------------

*FACTS ABOUT DONALD TRUMP*

1. Donald Trump self-sponsored himself throughout the campaign and election... the very first politician to have done that in the history of USA politics.

2. In other words... there are no SPECIAL INTEREST...GROUPS OR CULT that co-sponsored his election

3. Almost every Presidential candidate before his foray into the Presidential position solicited for his funds which he generously gave.

4. In his adolescence, he showed aggression to ladies due to wealth and immaturity.

5. Nonetheless ...the 45th President of the USA, Donald Trump is a complete "teetotaller"; he's a disciplinarian as none of his children drinks, smokes or has a dot of tattoo on their skin, same as Trump!

6. The only telephone call he picks under a tight schedule is calls from any of his children, albeit his grandchildren.

7. He was earning $220 - $250 million dollars monthly and now as President of USA, he earns "NADA"! I repeat $1 dollar because refusing to earn his income is a violation of the constitution; so he deliberately earns a dollar and donates his remaining $399 thousand not millions but $399 thousand dollars to charity every month, which means he will be TAX-FREE throughout his term as PRESIDENT OF THE USA. No American President has ever done it!!

8. It was accurately predicted that he would win the Presidency as far back as almost a decade ago.

9. He's extremely versatile in almost every subject but also a perfectionist.

10. He believes ABSOLUTELY in the HOLY CREED! He's anti-gay, anti-bestial, name it! That was why he couldn't keep a mistress, it's divorce and remarriage!

11. He has abrogated the Lindford Johnson law preventing Christian Organizations from ever campaigning for any candidate!

12. He has also removed and uprooted from the USA Whitehouse Website anything related to gay or bestiality.

13. He picked a hardline "born again" as Vice-President.

14. Because of his hatred for early termination of pregnancies! He believes abortion is death to a living human being and thus the USA policy by Obama to have your abortions done outside the soil of USA AND PAID BY THE USA was totally abolished by TRUMP!!

15. ISIS flourished under Obama's reign, Christians were slaughtered mercilessly all over the world, but under TRUMP, within a year (actually 10 months), ISIS now decimated in IRAQ and about to be annihilated in Syria but for the Russians!

16. Obama insisted that aid or military support will only suffice "if and only if" African Countries abolished anti GAY LAWS; conclusively, OBAMA DID NOTHING FOR AFRICA, nothing, NADA!! TRUMP has already donated warships to Nigeria and weapons to eliminate all forms of threats to sovereignty of Nigeria ...under 10 months and about to assist in the repatriation of stolen funds from US Soil!

17. He's deeply at loggerheads with Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor for the policy of admitting 1 million refugees from the Middle East and as far as he's concerned, GERMANY IS ENCOURAGING TERRORISM by allowing a safe-haven for terrorists! This has made Merkel to soft-pedal! He personally went to the Middle-East to warn them that killing of Christians will not be tolerated and this as a fact has made Egypt to take threats to the Christians & native Coptics in Egypt to be protected.

18. The backlash has exposed Qatar as a terrorist state sponsor which has imposed AIR...SEA and several bans on the sovereign state.

19. The economy of the USA especially the STOCK MARKET came to its peak from the moment TRUMP was sworn in as President and constantly closes its daily trades in TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS!!! Never in the history of USA has that been achieved.

20. No special interest or group can do anything to him; that is why he TALKS ANYHOW TO ANYBODY OR GROUP!! He's not tied to any financial group which makes him call a SPADE THAT SPADE!!!

21. No one is doing anything or even protecting Christians in the U.K except TRUMP!!

22. No one is protecting Christians in any other country in the world except TRUMP! You tamper or touch a Christian anywhere in the world ...YOU HAVE TOUCHED TRUMP and you will soon face DECIMATION as he has a WARMONGER called GENERAL "MAD DOG" ...WAR MONK JAMES MATTIS as his Defense Chief!

23. A Christian Organization have  been going through persecution in UK for months and UK did nothing, as many MAYORS in probe areas are MUSLIMS. They sent a video to TRUMP as it's a fact THAT AMERICA NOW HAS A MAN OF GOD IN THE WHITE HOUSE CALLED TRUMP!!!

24. We (Christians in the UK) now feel SO RE-ASSURED that there's a CRUSADER OF THE HOLY CROSS AND CREED designed and organized by the HOLY ONE sent to do one thing ...PROTECT AND PRESERVE THE TENETS OF HIS CREED and HIS PEOPLE; otherwise Christians and other minority faiths would have been annihilated

25. Lies upon lies by all the NETWORKS will never allow you to know the above facts but TRUTH can never be hidden.

26. I was in USA recently and it's no secret blacklisted Muslim individuals were thoroughly searched and questioned, like any other on red alert  Border control HAS to be beefed up.

26. UK was reminded by TRUMP that ...YOU ARE A CHRISTIAN STATE AND MUST PROTECT CHRISTIANS

27. He called the government of Nigeria animals and showed the brutal killing of his people by Fulani Jihadists. Kidnapping schoolgirls seems to be normal.
He said, even animals protect their kinds, yet the Nigerian government can't protect her citizens.

CONCLUSION: TRUMP IS GOD- SENT TO PROTECT AMERICAN PEOPLE & CHRISTIANS IN AMERICA AND ALL OVER THE WORLD!!

It’s time for Christians to crawl out of their shells and hiding places, take over their positions in society, increase in their numbers and speak up to silence evil. This is not time for “it doesn’t matter, I don’t care, it’s not my business, etc. I am sure those are familiar contents in our thoughts and everyday words, as things happen around us. Those common thoughts and words from good people are the reason why we experience all sorts of evil in our society today. The few of us still retaining our good must have to open our eyes to understand what is going on; they need to matter to us, we need to care and they must be our business. Lets shun ignorance and start acting, lest, we will all be consumed by the wave of evil before we know it.

Ideal Spirit of Football – Facts from Russia 2018 World Cup

We talk about spirit of football. To us, it’s all about the huge effect it has on all lovers of football; effect that can be more powerful than overdose of alcohol; effect that can make fans go hungry when their team or club loses and also make fans eat and drink uncontrollably to celebrate team’s or club’s victory; effect that can make fans skip religious activities and even neglect their businesses, we can go on and on.

Russia World Cup 2018 has come and gone, but the memories still live. Foot ball or soccer comes with thrills, excitement and jubilation, or with loss and pain to some fans, as the matches take place. Football or soccer comes with predictions and betting that could improve fan’s standard of living or take fans to another level of poverty. Some people have died because of their crazy love for football, some even committed suicide, probably because they lost in the betting, or whatever, while some have destroyed properties or even killed someone unintentionally, and in anger because their club or team lost to the other during matches. These situations have become the nature of football, the spirit of soccer that we know of.

Nevertheless, during matches, and in the spirit of football - the excitement and jubilation of the moment, fans are completely ignorant of the golden efforts and lifestyle that lead to the award of the golden cup to the winner. When it comes to football or soccer, I am more thrilled and excited about the efforts, and particularly the lifestyle of the teams. You may have taken notes of some football lessons applicable to you, but join me to share in the lessons I learnt during the 2018 Russia World cup, which are also applicable in all football matches.

1. Each team worked together, they carried each other along and used body language to achieve their goal or goals.

2. Each team has one goal, which is to score goals. They achieve this by application of their diverse skills.

3. One person’s mistake was tolerated by all, and one person’s goal was celebrated by all. There is no blame game.

4. No team ever lost hope, even when the match is not in their favour. The match between Belgium and Japan during Russian 2018 World Cup is a good example. Belgium missed a lot of chances and was hit by 2 goals, but they never lost hope, they pressed on, and scored two goals to equalize with Japan, and later scored extra goal to win the match.

5. In the dictionary of football, there is no ‘discrimination’. France won in Russia 2018 football and surprisingly, most of their players are Africans.

6. They play by the rules; sticking to the dos and avoiding the don’ts.

7. Fans spend to celebrate the victory of their club or team, even when they have no share in what the team will get for their effort.

8. There is transparency in football. Both players and spectators see everything that take place in the field; they all know why judgments are passed, who deserve punishment and who does not. There is no hide and seek game.

9. Losers accept defeat; they don’t fight the referee or the winners, they join to celebrate the winners, they don’t find faults.

10. Fans take their children to watch live football. By so doing, they transfer passion; they pass on their values as parents, for their children to carry on with.
Future World Cup Stars

11. In the course of football match, footballers focus their attention on the ball. They don't give in to distraction, they don't look away from the ball while on duty. They stay focused.

12. The presidents of France and Croatia were there live to congratulate the finalists. They made sure they played their own role to end the the world cup; not minding the rain that has drenched them.

If our families, offices and society can be like a football field, with players like you and me going by the dos and avoiding the don’ts, and in the ideal spirit of Football, the world will be a better place.
